Shiau Sin is a co-founder and Partner of Ventris Capital and spends most of his time on internet, logistics, consumer, and fintech. He is an active investor and advisor in various early stage companies and previously spent significant time in the natural resources industry. Shiau Sin has extensive experience in fundraising and has raised over US$10bn of equity and debt financing across Asia-Pacific. Prior to Ventris, Shiau Sin was with UBS Investment Bank in New York and Hong Kong. He started his career with management consultancy A.T. Kearney. He holds an MBA from Cornell University and an MA from Maastricht University. He is fluent in German, English, French and Mandarin Chinese.
Ricardo is partner of Ventris Capital Advisors, where his main work and interest is on transformative technologies and ventures focused on the financial sector. Originally from Germany, Ricardo grew up in Chile and first moved to Asia in 1993 to learn Mandarin Chinese. Prior to Ventris, he was Head Asset Servicing for the Greater China markets at UBS in Hong Kong. Before UBS, Ricardo spent several years working for the Liebherr group in Switzerland and China. Ricardo holds a BBA from Ravensburg University of Applied Sciences, Germany and an MBA from Edinburgh University, UK. He is fluent in German, English, Spanish, Mandarin Chinese and French.
Johannes, originally from Germany, has been living around Asia for ten years. During university he represented Hong Kong at the world championships for underwater robotics where his team ranked third place out of 600 teams. Johannes co-founded Plain Exchange, a peer-to-peer foreign exchange platform, which was voted ‘Top Fintech Start-up’ by Barclays Bank. An active hacker, he and his team won the world’s largest hackathon ‘AngelHack’ and also organised ‘hackUST’, Greater China’s largest university hackathon.
He graduated with a degree in Global Business and Information Systems from the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology.
With experience in both private and public sectors in Hong Kong and abroad, Chris is currently cultivating his interest in transformative technologies, analyzing trends to look for new opportunities across a wide spectrum of industries including financial and consumer tech. In his free time, Chris is an avid badminton player and hiker. He graduated with First Class Honours in Economics from the London School of Economics.
Tyler is a co-founder and Venture Partner of Ventris Capital and focuses on consumer, renewables and real estate. Prior to Ventris Capital, he was a founder of a boutique cross-border financial advisory firm and also worked for a Canadian family office focused on investments in China SMEs. Tyler began his career at BMO Nesbitt Burns in Vancouver. He played semi- professional ice hockey and was a varsity student-athlete and Division I ice-hockey player. He holds a BA in Political Sciences from Concordia University.
